This necklace is made of waxed linen, 6/0 beads and a neck wire. Very simple to put together and very easy to wear. I think I might make another.

Today I tried on and wore (briefly) an amazing necklace by Kathy King. Her work is sculptural and innovative-you are looking at 11/0 beads stitched together sideways-and truly original.

Yes, I did have to give it back. If you are wondering what to get me for my birthday…ask Kathy.

Life is full of turmoil right now. I need my jewels for their power-not just their beauty. They need to convey specific messages.

These two necklaces are in daily rotation. The ‘butter me up’ knife is by Jennifer Bethleune. It is on a chain with a clasp.

The skull-and-crown charm was a gift from a friend. It is knotted onto waxed linen and then knotted onto my neck. I’ll have to cut it off or wear it until the power is exhausted.

I’ve been wearing it for a week.

When in doubt, wear the black wrap dress and all your favorite jewelry. It never fails.

These two necklaces are a good pair: giant faux amber beads on one and teeny sterling baskets on the other. I’ve hung the baskets from orange enameled ball chain. I wear those baskets lots, on a variety of strands and chains.

It was 100+ today, with severe thunderstorms.

Seven strand of vintage bone beads, clasped with a brass hook. They probably came from a garage sale.

‘Only $1? These are decent, I can cut them up and make something.’

But somehow I never did.

A tassel of beads topped by a ceramic bird bead I made with dangles featuring Elaine Ray beads and gimp.

It’s hanging off that brass neck wire I love to use and reuse.
