This necklace is made with Swarovski crystal pearls and a filigree locket. A silhouette of a woman wearing a hat resides in the locket but I’ve been meaning to replace it with my daughters.
This necklace appeared in Beading With Filigree. I really like the loops of strung brass crimps used as beads that attach the pearl strand to the chain sections.
I wanted to wear a vintage orange glass necklace today but I couldn’t find it. Then I remembered today was the Royal Wedding Day and I decided this necklace was more appropriate.
less than 2 months & i’m already wondering how you store all these pieces when you’re not wearing them? i’m picturing some elaborate revolving mechanism with clips and tiny wire clothes hangers… or at least hopefully not s hooks in the closet like mine 🙂
good question, wish I had a great answer
I have a few sets of hooks that I keep necklaces on, and a GIANT bulletin board that I tack them up onto. The problem I am suddenly having is that I can’t keep track of what I have and have not worn. I will have to reorganize the bb or maybe get some boxes for the necklaces. I can’t decide.
The bb system is great because I can easily see anything I am interested in. It’s not so great because heavy necklaces fall off easily and the board isn’t actually big enough to hold EVERYTHING.
I also store jewelry in a series of tiny suitcases on the shelves in the studio. Mostly really old vintage stuff goes in those suitcases.
I also have hooks in my office where I store at least 30 or so necklaces, mostly ones I have used for recent projects with our website or for magazines.
Oh, the bb resides in my studio. Since I do this for a living and have a similarly disposed family I can devote 1/6 of my house to crafts. I’d like to add a mannequin to the studio or living room for a big wad of necklaces but I haven’t totally convinced my hubby that is a great idea yet. 😉
